Overview
Donnie Winningham is a civil litigator with 20 years of experience defending clients in insurance and financial services matters. His practice over the past five years has focused primarily on litigation for Florida property insurance companies arising from homeowners’ claims. That work includes first-party and third-party claims, coverage disputes and bad faith claims.
Donnie’s earlier civil defense practice encompassed insurance defense and securities litigation. He represented brokerage firms and other financial institutions in disputes with customers and handled life insurance litigation. His experience also includes contractual disputes, products liability and mass torts, toxic torts, and business torts. He has represented clients in state and federal courts in multiple states, as well as in FINRA and AAA arbitration.
In addition to litigation, Donnie advises financial services clients on requirements governing brokerage and custodial accounts for public entities, including municipalities and universities. His counseling addresses state public funds statutes, collateralization and safekeeping requirements, and SEC and FINRA rules applicable to those accounts.
At the outset of a matter, Donnie works to understand the client’s principal litigation goals. He uses that understanding to advise on strategies and processes aimed at reaching those goals in a timely and efficient manner.
