Overview
Tom leads Barclay Damon’s Torts & Insurance Practice Group, overseeing more than 70 professionals across the firm. His civil litigation practice centers on products liability and complex personal-injury matters, alongside commercial and professional-liability litigation. His professional-liability work includes medical, legal and accounting malpractice, as well as directors’ and officers’ liability. Tom has tried numerous cases to verdict in federal and state courts, has appellate experience and has represented clients before the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Tom defends manufacturers and retailers in products liability and personal-injury claims on a national and regional basis. His representative clients include multinational publicly traded manufacturers, large underwriters of commercial and specialty insurance lines, and privately held and public companies. He also counsels companies of various sizes across a range of industries, including accounting firms; energy-supply companies, including those involved in renewable energy; aggregate mining companies; food distributors, wholesalers and processors; trucking and transportation companies; manufacturers; information technology companies; and real estate companies.
Tom is a certified federal court mediator for the US District Court for the Western District of New York and a member of that court’s Local Rules Committee. He is also a certified continuing education provider for Florida and Texas. His writing and lectures have addressed professional liability, risk management, trial practice and ethics.
