Michael Van Someren

Mike counsels individuals and organizations on commercial real estate transactions. As a member of the firm’s Real Estate, Zoning and Public Finance Service Group, he advises on entity selection and formation, drafts purchase and sale agreements and offers to purchase, and conducts due diligence. He also negotiates and drafts agreements with municipalities and other stakeholders.

Land use and zoning are a significant part of Mike’s practice. He advises clients on project requirements under local zoning laws and drafts easements and restrictive covenants. In commercial leasing, he represents both landlords and tenants, drafting and negotiating agreements for retail, health care, industrial and office space.

Mike’s work also includes corporate matters. He reviews and negotiates business-to-business contracts, drafts business-to-consumer contracts and advises on corporate governance issues. In M&A transactions, he performs due diligence research and negotiates and drafts stock purchase and asset purchase agreements. Mike traces his emphasis on teamwork to his college football career; he brings that collaborative approach to his work with clients on transactions.
