Overview

Allyn advises businesses on environmental compliance, regulatory requirements and enforcement matters, drawing on 30 years of agency experience, including service as an EPA Regional Counsel. Since joining Beveridge & Diamond in 2019, she has helped clients develop proactive compliance strategies, respond to federal and state investigations, and negotiate with agencies over solutions to enforcement matters. Her work spans air, water and waste regulation; Superfund cleanup; reuse and recycling; and disaster preparedness. She serves clients in the government, energy infrastructure, technology, transportation and product manufacturing sectors.

As EPA Regional Counsel, Allyn was the senior executive advising career staff and political appointees on litigation strategy, enforcement approaches and decisions involving laws administered by the agency. Her work also contributed to national decision-making on enforcement, Superfund, and Clean Water Act litigation and policy. That experience informs her work with clients navigating government regulation and seeking workable resolutions with regulators.

Allyn also advises companies on plastics and packaging requirements, including extended producer responsibility, single-use plastics, recycling definitions, minimum recycled content and advanced recycling. In green marketing matters, she helps companies assess environmental claims against the Federal Trade Commission’s Green Guides and relevant state consumer protection laws. Her perspective on public messaging includes earlier responsibility for managing EPA’s press team in San Francisco.

Allyn co-chairs the firm’s Environmental and Apparel & Textiles groups and formerly co-chaired its Water group. She approaches environmental compliance as both a regulatory obligation and a business consideration, with an emphasis on strategies companies can put into practice.
