Overview
Carrie Douglas represents hospital systems, ambulatory surgery centers and large physician practices in reimbursement disputes with commercial payors and third-party administrators. Her work includes managed care contract disputes and other payor-provider matters, with an emphasis on resolving claims before litigation. Over the past six years, Carrie has brought in more than $16 million for West Texas’ largest regional health system.
Her reimbursement practice addresses unilateral payor policies concerning COVID-19 reimbursement, reference-based pricing, out-of-network plans and evaluation and management (E/M) downcoding. Carrie has also developed strategies for disputes over experimental or investigational designations, medical necessity, diagnosis-related group (DRG) downgrades, and refunds, offsets and other adjustments that have enabled pre-litigation resolutions. In addition, she advises hospitals and health systems on compliance with the Hospital Price Transparency Rule.
