Overview
Mr. Anderson is a founding member of Bodman’s Enterprise Procurement Group. His commercial contracts practice spans business process and information technology outsourcing, commercial and governmental debit card programs, and manufacturing, procurement and supply arrangements. He has negotiated thousands of agreements with vendors involving billions of dollars in spending. In structuring and negotiating contracts, he focuses on allocating risk, establishing appropriate remedies and securing favorable financial terms for clients. His work serves a range of industries, particularly financial services, construction, automotive and healthcare.
Technology and intellectual property issues are a recurring part of Mr. Anderson’s transactional work. He drafts technology development and license agreements, including website development and hosting agreements, and prepares general service agreements. He also advises on Internet security and trademark matters. In the workplace, he counsels clients on non-competition and non-solicitation issues, ownership of intellectual property, and policies governing the use of email, the Internet and other information technology. His experience also includes general commercial litigation and participation in litigation involving intellectual property disputes.
Mr. Anderson works with both sides of franchise transactions. For franchisors, he develops Uniform Franchise Offering Circulars and franchise agreements; for franchisees, he reviews and negotiates those documents. He also assists with enforcement of franchise agreements and advises on franchise and commercial law matters. His contract work extends to production and services agreements for television series, documentaries, commercials and other video and multimedia productions.
Before joining Bodman, Mr. Anderson was an attorney working in technology-related areas at a consulting firm. He has lectured on procurement topics for organizations including the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Bankers Association, the University of Michigan, Michigan State University College of Law and the Institute for Continuing Legal Education. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Arts, Communication, Entertainment and Sports Section and an inactive member of the State Bar of Illinois. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Michigan and the Northern District of Illinois. He has been recognized multiple times by Michigan Super Lawyers under Intellectual Property and by DBusiness magazine as a Top Lawyer for Franchise Law.
