Overview
Denise Gavica Perez advises companies and institutions across the United States on employment-based immigration. Her work includes managing nonimmigrant and immigrant visa cases, planning immigration strategies and helping organizations maintain compliance with government requirements. She works with employers in healthcare, construction, engineering, architecture, technology, entertainment, hospitality, food service, publishing, retail, education, financial services, banking, and import and export.
Denise handles nonimmigrant visas and petitions, immigrant visa matters, and labor certifications under the PERM process for a range of occupations. She advises entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals on investment-based U.S. immigration, including the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program. Her practice also includes family-based immigration and U.S. citizenship matters. She represents companies in matters involving the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Department of Labor and Department of State, as well as Immigration and Customs Enforcement Form I-9 audits.
Healthcare immigration is a significant part of Denise’s practice. She regularly counsels hospitals and other healthcare institutions seeking nonimmigrant and immigrant visas for employees from around the world, including physicians, residents, fellows, nurses, pharmacists and medical technologists. She also represents recruitment and staffing agencies that recruit healthcare professionals. Her experience includes processing J-1 waivers, among them waivers under the Conrad 30 program, and assisting employees abroad with national interest exceptions and other exceptions for travel to the United States through U.S. consulates and embassies.
Denise previously served for several years as an adjunct professor in Florida International University’s paralegal program and has lectured on immigration topics at local seminars.
