Overview

Robert Slavkin chairs Akerman’s Healthcare Practice Group and advises healthcare-sector clients on regulatory compliance and day-to-day operational issues. His practice addresses federal and state requirements, including the federal anti-kickback and Stark laws, Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA and FDA regulations. He draws on prior experience as corporate counsel, a compliance officer and a privacy officer for a publicly traded healthcare company.

Robert also counsels clients on the Affordable Care Act, the role of accountable care in U.S. health reform, Medicare Managed Care and Part D programs. His work spans both specific regulatory obligations and the operational questions healthcare entities face as the legislative framework changes.

Robert lectures frequently across the United States on healthcare issues, including compliance-program development under federal requirements and HIPAA. He is an active member of the American Health Law Association and previously served as Vice Chair of Publications for its Payors, Plans, and Managed Care Practice Group.
