Overview

Ryan Owen is Board Certified in Construction Law by The Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education. He advises and represents general and specialty contractors, owners, and materials suppliers in construction disputes and related risk-management matters. His work includes helping clients transfer risk to insurers and other contractors or suppliers, pursuing payment for contractors’ services, and handling defect litigation alongside related surety and insurance issues.

Ryan also drafts construction contracts. In disputes, he represents clients through each phase of litigation, from assessing claims and managing discovery to taking depositions, preparing motions and pre-trial filings, and presenting matters at trial. He assists clients in mediation and arbitration as well.

Beyond construction, Ryan handles commercial and real estate litigation involving contract disputes, employment agreements and non-compete provisions, landlord–tenant conflicts, title insurance, corporate partnerships, and claims under Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act. His experience also includes easement and property-line disputes, condominium disputes and appeals, and litigation concerning credit collection practices, including alleged violations of the TCPA, FDCPA and bankruptcy stays.

Ryan’s creditor’s rights work includes complex commercial loan workouts and collections for regional and national banks. He advises clients on prejudgment writs of garnishment and attachment and has obtained injunctions against fraudulent transfers and other extraordinary relief. A graduate of the Leadership Sarasota program, he has been named among Florida Super Lawyers Rising Stars in General Litigation, Business Litigation and Construction Litigation.
